One of Rotary's mission is to promote peace. And with that in mind, the Rotary Club of Northern Guam embarked on a project to commemorate the lives lost on September 11, 2001. Together with its Friendship Club Tokyo Ohi and other corporate donors, it became a reality. On September 8, 2011, Club Members, local legislators, Frienship Club Tokyo Ohi and guests dedicated the Peace Memorial to honor the lives lost on 9/11 and to declare Guam a "Peace Island".
